Note 4/23/2022 - Every trim except #4 in stock, all pre-orders shipping out 4/25/2022. #4 trim is currently being developed --- Purpose We went all out on these trims to leave a lasting legacy, something we can be proud of and as a proof of concept for our other future endeavors. With that being said, long story short, we utilized cutting edge state of the art manufacturing methods and equipment and with no shortcuts taken. To make these very complexly shaped and detailed trims in full CF a reality, pre-preg/dry method is a must. These aren't your typical CF trims produced from inverted hand made fiberglass molds and vacuum bags in the garage, "sticker" type overlay trims with 3M tape, or skinned Carbon fiber layer simply laid over the original plastic trims. These are real high performance full pre-preg "dry" carbon fiber replacement trims meticulously hand crafted from an aluminum mold and completely cured under high pressure and heat in a massive autoclave throughout different stages over many hours. No original parts/plastic cores are needed or sacrificed as our whole trim is essentially a full replacement consisting of all carbon fiber, with an exception of a few critical mounting tabs made with durable nylon material and epoxied on Click for more information How its made and advantages The original trims were 3D scanned up to 0.03-0.05mm accuracy and CADed for the best fit and accuracy possible. Next aluminum molds of each panel were made via CNC milling. Why make the mold from billet aluminum instead of fiberglass? To sum it up, carbon fiber parts are made either via "dry" or "wet" carbon. Basically the difference is in the production methods and the corresponding equipment needed/used. Aluminum molds offer significant and exclusive benefits such as the possible use of pre-pregnated carbon fiber (referred to as dry carbon production method) with optimal amounts of resin pre-infused in each layer and the required use of an autoclave for pressurized high heat curing over many stages throughout many hours. This extensive and expensive production process ensures complete curing of the part with the best quality possible to the highest of standards which cannot be matched with the lather wet carbon fiber part production method. Dry carbon method also allows for increased geometric complexity (these interior trims are quite complex in shapes, angles and not possible to make via the traditional cheaper "wet" method). Dry carbon offers desirable and unrivaled qualities such as being vastly lighter (typically 60% lighter vs wet carbon counterpart) yet significantly stronger while being much much thinner, increased uniformity, increased strength with less air pockets, unbeatable smooth surface finish with higher accuracy and precision. Dry carbon is the same tech used by F1 and hard core race teams (where teams commonly invest dozens of millions of USD worth of the best tech, design and parts into a compact race car, essentially the best of the best available), military as well as in the aerospace/satellite industries across the world. The lather choice would be wet carbon with fiberglass molds which is the common method of production for the huge majority of the carbon fiber parts on the market. Wet carbon is mostly for appearance and not for function. Results The photos and results speak for themselves. Complete replacement trims in carbon fiber molded elegantly into very complex shapes that many people thought simply weren't possible. These trims breathe beauty, classy, high end, exoticness, sportiness, faithfulness to the original design, cutting edge technology, high accuracy, high performance and simply jaw dropping amusement. These trims are as high end, lightweight and exotic as it gets. Its the first of its kind in over 30 years for the MR2 community and to note that even for many other popular car platforms including modern BMWs, Audis, Porsches, Mercedes Benz, from OE and aftermarket companies alike do not have any interior trim comparatives of this caliber, unless it is on their dedicated race cars. For comparatives, look closer to Ferrari, F1, hardcore multi 6 figure race cars, Paganis and multi million dollar hypercars. Have your friends hold the extremely lightweight pieces and watch their expression turn to awe, resemble as if they just witnessed a miracle. -As if the lightweight and strength aspect of the pieces alone when considering the actual size and dimensions of the part almost defies physics and is out of this world. Due to the high cost to stock up in bulk quantities, complexity, intensive labor, and significant time needed to produce each of these trims with the extremely limited molds we developed, only 1 of each variant is able to be produced every 1-2 days, or around 10-15 pcs a month. Purpose Reproduction Steering Column Covers "Clamshell or Clam Shell Covers as often referred to" from MR2 Heaven. These covers have been discontinued by Toyota for quite some time. Fortunately, we are here to bring them back! We've heard you loud and clear! About 75%+ of the cars we encounter all have broken covers behind the steering wheel so its time for a change. These covers are commonly broken at the mounting tabs on the side as well as at the mounting holes underneath the cover. Age of the plastic, improper removal, fatigue, over tightening the screws, brittleness as well as impact are common reasons why these covers fail. At these temperatures, one can expect engine to pull 30-70+ WHP worth of timing, enough to ruin all your fun and enjoyment. This is percisely why MR2s fall flat around 2-3 pulls and it only gets increasingly worse. Ultimately, every side mounted IC MR2s greatly suffers from heating of intake air temperatures as that air is forced to travel through a gruesome hot and long path before it reaches our engine cylinders. This also puts unnecessary extra stress into the side mounted heat exchanger. For those who say "its a short path and heat soak doesn't matter because of air velocity", go check out the large temperature differences and watch the detailed video. The 2x 12" fans being literally an inch away from those various important components, forces massive amounts of cool ambient air directly to help cool everything nearby. The end result is many components in the engine bay are literally cool/cold to the touch while the motor is running, including top half of the entire intake manifold, both pipes, throttle body, your intake air filter and more. Thats a huge temperature difference, from burning hot to touch to cold to the touch. Many believe natural air cooling which goes from under the car and out of the engine lid is proper and the best method. We don't argue that hot air rises and it does but what actually happens is hot air from your motor and block rises and heats up your components. Don't believe us? That air flow is free - try it yourself - If your components aern't cool to the touch after, there is your answer. With that being said, many customers are seeing a 30-50+ degree reduction in their intake air temperatures with our fan shrouds when paired with our aftermarket side mounted intercooler setups. Some of our customers are even running as high as 500+WHP on our side mounted intercooler kits before reaching high intake air temperatures. Multiple 460WHP dyno pulls resulted in 100-105F IATS which is legendary on a side mounted intercooler. We all know how nice our cars pull on a 45 degree night vs a 95 degree day before it falls flat on its face after the 3rd and sequential pulls without our fan shroud as temperatures shoot up well past 140F+ (140F+ if our full suite of solutions is not deployed). The huge horsepower difference is undeniable, that is because we are losing 30-80+ horsepower due to temperatures alone and the ECU having to resort to safer timing values/maps for your car to run safely. The end result with this fan shroud lid installed is MORE HP and FUN throughout your whole drive. Guaranteed. If you want the best out of your intercooler system - Air flow of side mounted fan is critical - Natural air flow velocity through poorly placed/designed side vent into heat exchanger mounted indirectly is dreadful For the most fun and best experience, consider our 800+ CFM SPAL fan which pulls large amounts of airflow through the thick 4" restrictive intercooler core cooling fins with brute power to the point where you can easily feel with your hand on the other side of the core. The other 2 fans we offer which are no slouches by the way, we cant feel much if any air being pulled through which brings us to another inherent problem of 90s design and mid engine layout of MR2, that is the natural air flow velocity from small vent on the side is inadequate for penetrating through entire heat exchanger core when car is in motion even at highway speeds. Heat exchanger core actually sits quite some distance above the vent opening and at a large slanted angle. Imagine velocity of air flow when it has to fully twist 90 degrees twice to penetrate the core in such short distances. Not going to happen. Purpose Sturdy, lightweight, V-mount, CARBON FIBER 3D wing with "One piece" CNC laser cut and bent to shape, powdercoated adjustable Wingstands using stock location 1994-98 OEM trunk mounting holes. Physic states, objects will become equilibrium in temperature with its surroundings through a mixture of heat conduction and radiation. Ultimately, every side mounted IC MR2s greatly suffers from heating of intake air temperatures as that air is forced to travel through a gruesome hot and long path before it reaches our engine cylinders. This also puts unnecessary extra stress into the side mounted heat exchanger. The other 2 fans we offer, we cant feel much if any air being pulled through which brings us to another inherent problem of 90s design and mid engine layout of MR2, that is the natural air flow velocity from small vent on the side is inadequate for penetrating through entire heat exchanger core when car is in motion even at highway speeds. Heat exchanger core actually sits quite some distance above the vent opening and at a large slanted angle. Imagine velocity of air flow when it has to fully twist 90 degrees twice to penetrate the core in such short distances. Not going to happen. Dual 12" Engine Lid Fan Shroud - Renders entire top end of the engine bay, including intake manifold and pipes cold/cool to the touch Third and lastly, our dual 12" engine lid fan shroud helps significantly in reducing recovery times, and temperatures around the engine bay, including the heat soaked "too hot to touch" intake manifold/throttle body/pipes.
